You can run away, but your fears will come along if you don’t face them…

City, job, friends… You can make any major change in your life, but if you do it expecting to become happier just like that instead looking for the reason why you need those changes,  I’m afraid you will still have to confront the issues some time int he future…

I had it for a long time with the destinations I was living in. When things would start to become harder for whatever reason or they would not look the way I would like to, I would come up with a new plan to flee…

I am not saying that we should never make changes in our lives, of course we have to in order to develop and go after what we want. However we tend to think that the grass is greener at the other side… If we would just stop. think and look inside of us to see what’s going on we would save a lot energy trying to change the “wrong thing”.

I have recently felt fear. But for once I decided not to run away. I am not only staying in the same city this time but I am also chasing my dream and working hard to get it! I am not going to hide or hold back any more, because I am worth it, as simple as that!

Thank you Marina for helping me realise how much I have to offer and how important it is to face our fears, with support everything is possible! I am very grateful for all the new people in my life that are supporting me, I could not be happier that they all appeared at the right moment! :) Let’s do it, let’s shine all together! :-)

What is it what you are avoiding doing? What are you afraid of? I feel now safe, and it feels great!

Big hug and much love,

Sara

Sometimes (just sometimes) it feels good to be bad… hehehe :P

feet_sand_2_220x331Don’t you sometimes have the feeling that you are trying to hard to get something? That you try to be perfect and people don’t really appreciate your effort? Isn’t it hard to reach everybody’s expectations (or even yours)? Well, then I have something you will love! Be bad! Yes… hahaha

I am not talking about robbing a bank or harm anyone. I am talking about being a bit naughty… hihi What does it cross your mind? I might suggest to not answer the telephone for a whole evening, leave your job one hour earlier to go for a massage or even enjoy a “non healthy” dinner in good company without feeling guilty! (Make sure that whatever you do is for your own shake ;-)

I have tons of things in my head I want to get done, but you know what? I’ve done enough for today, my “being bad” moment is going to be “I leave it for tomorrow!”

What will you do?

Much love,

Sara.es

P.S. I don’t get any responsibility from this post! haha, please, do not make it a habit, otherwise it would not be fun anymore… :P

Chia pudding, the best dessert ever! :)

Standard

2013-10-01 14.11.43Do you often crave something creamy, tasty and sweet but you want to stay on the healthy side and get something nutritious and easy? I think I have something for you then… :) I am not a fan of exact recipes, but here you are and idea of how to prepare such a dessert!

What do you need?

1/4 cup Chía seeds*

1 cup Veggie milk (I used home-made almond milk, but you can also buy it)

1 ts Maple syrup (or any other healthy alternative)

Cinnamon

A little bit of lemon juice

What to do?

Mix al the ingredients together and leave for 10-15 min in the fridge.

Stir again and check the taste and consistency. Bear in mind that the chia seeds will grow and get slimy…

You can eat it now or leave it a bit longer in the fridge for more consistency and flavour! :)

Just enjoy it!

Other suggestions:

You can try your own version adding cacao nibs or chocolate powder, carob, coco, grated zest, raisins… Be creative, the sky is the limit!

I did also with fruit juice, crazy… hahaha I love it too! :)

Did you like it? I like so much tha tI normally have a big bowl at home and I have a portion everyday… :) If you try it let me know how it goes, please! I want to hear from you!

Big hug and much love,

Sara

*Chia seeds are a great source of omega 3 among other things. They will make you feel full without feeling guilty ;-) I use them a lot to replace eggs and in deserts. You can buy them on healthy stores

If I can do it, you can do it… ;-) Just dare to try!

2013-10-20 13.18.48Today I have accomplished one of my biggest challenges and goals before I turn 30, I have run a 5km race! :) Yesssssssss! For some people it might not mean much, but for me it means EVERyTHiNG!

I admit it, I never liked running, and although I had tried to start several times in the last 6 years, I never managed to run more than 20′ without stopping… Today, for the first time in my life and after 42min I achieved one of my dreams!

Although I knew I was ready for the challenge, I freaked out when we were about to start… I started to stare at all the participants, they all looked soooo professional… :( Fortunately my friend, flatmate and run-buddy Tim was there to remind that I should not compare myself to others. What a big true! :)

I panicked for a second…: “what if I am the last one?” Well, someone has to be, right… ?

3, 2, 1, GO! We start running and everybody passes my by… There is just one thing that crosses my mind: “You are going to do this, you can do this… don’t think of the others, you can go slow, it’s fine, but you are going to make it! Everyone has its own rhythm, just make sure you can follow yours so that you don’t have to stop or go walking. Keep your head up, breath and keep running, you are AwEsOmE!“.

When I realised I had run my first 20′ I was already alone, hehe. Even the 80 years old man had passed me… I felt the energy to keep on running, I felt powerful, but I suddenly began to cry… At that moment I was going to make it, like everything else in my life I could dream about… I was there, thanks to my inner force and the support of many people. At that very moment it was not about the race anymore, it was about my whole life and all the challenges I have faced and that are on my way! It was not about me anymore, it was about everyone’s dreams! If I could do it, everyone could do it! Everything is possible, you just have to train, trust and dare to try it! :)

2013-10-20 13.19.51

When I finished I waited for Tim, who went for the 10k. He did amazingly great, he crossed the end of race just 6′ after me!! :) He could not believe it, we were both supper happy of our performances! :) Congrats Tim, and thank you VERY, VERY MUCH! You know I will never ever forget you, “we wrote history… :P”

Now, we will keep on training and go for the next step, but if I could do this, I have no doubt that in december I will be able to run my first 10k! I will tell you more about it then!

Which has been your biggest challenge so far?

Big, big hug and much ♥,

Sara.es

P.D. I did finish the last one from the 5k, but you know what? I am very happy and super proud of myself that I dared to try and I made it! :D

My slow juicer and I… ;-)

Standard

A few weeks ago, right after my friend arrived, I received one of the best present I have ever got to myself, a slow juicer! I know, it sounds crazy, especially if you think of how much I spent on it, but you know what? I love it! I have been using it everyday ever  since and I know its changing my life! It sounds commercial, I wont deny it, but the green juices taste actually very good! hahahaha (I would have never ever thought so though…)

2013-10-03 13.28.54

So here I am, preparing my first juice! Curious about what I put in it?

Celery

Cucumber

Kale

Apple

Lemon

Ginger

There are tons of recipes on the internet you can check, I will be posting my favorite ones in the following weeks… :) Which one do you like the most?

Big hug and much love,

Sara.es

Do you want to smile? This will make you happy… ;-)

Video

Good morning everyone!

Today I have a quite impersonal but deep message: watch this video and tell me what you think about it!

My friend, housemate & run-buddy Tim posted very recently on my FB. I had already seen it before, but as al things in life it came at the perfect moment to remind me how good I am doing and how beautiful life is! :) So, dont stay there staring, star doing something!

Live, love, laugh… be happy and watch the video again! ;-)

:)

Btw, Tim, thanks again for being there, you are AWESOME! ;-)

First things first, my morning routine… :) Lovin’ it!

Standard

After more than a year without a clear morning routine (not needing to get up early every day) and having tried almost anything to get the day started the best way possible, this is (so far) what best works for me:

  • Go to bed on time! I know, that is not in the morning, but it REALLY helps to be willing to get up if you have slept enough…
  • Get up every day at the same time (more or less). It really helps me to go with he flow, after a while the body knows when to wake up… Weekends can be an exception, but I don’t like to break my rhythm very much anyway.
  • Use a nice music for your alarm . Find something that wakes you up in a sweet way and makes you smile… Now I listen every morning to Jason Mraz, “I wont give up” :)
  • Open my eyes when I first hear the music instead of turning around…. For a long time I would postpone to the max my stand up time by snoozing, hehhe, no good… :P I do it just once now, the time to realise where I am, which day it is, drink my water…
  • Drink my water! I always have a litter of water next to my bed to drink in the mornings before I put my feet on the ground. It might sound stupid, but this really helps to be calm all day long and keep on drinking.
  • Spirituality! Do whatever suits you but try to re-connect with yourself… I like meditating for 5 to 20 min, depending on how much time I have. You can also practise some journaling, yoga…
  • Lemon time! I really like drinking some lemon juice with water before having breakfast… It helps your body to detox and will set your brain to look for healthy foods the rest of the day :) IMPORTANT! Leave at least half an hour before you eat your breakfast!
  • Exercise! I never thought I could be able to go out of my place on a regular basis without having breakfast, especially for doing sports, but it feels great! I recently started to run, so my roomie Tim and I go to the river side for about one hour… Walking, running, stretching, cycling, everything is better than staying in bed! Plus you feel much more energized the whole day!  Btw, I have to say that having him knoking at my door every morning has really motivated me to ge this routine… Thank youuuuuuuuuu Tim! :)
  • Juicing! Ohhhh yeahhh, that’s my new hobby! I will tell you more about my new machine, but it is definitely one of the best investments ever! If ou don’t have a juicer, you can also blend your breakfast and prepare a green smoothie, I live it too! And I have to say that if I don’t take my greens in the morning I feel much heavier the whole day…
  • Re-start the day with a smile and willing to do something you are looking forward. This might be the most challenging… If you need some motivation, play some happy music and have in mind what you have to do that day, there is nothing worse than sitting at your desk and feel lost! (specially if you are also independent!). It can help to plan your week on Sunday or Monday or even the day before…

If you think you do not have time for so much, you might be right, but have you already tried? You might start feeling the difference just by adding one of whose habits to your life! Which one are you willing to try?

Big hug and much love,

Sara.es

P.S. There is no right or wrong here, this is just what so far works best for me! :)

Thoughts and efects after a 4 days detox… :)

Standard

Are you curious about  what happened after a few days following a gentle detox? MaGiC! hahaha. Four days is not enough to feel all the benefits of a detox, actually it is when you start feeling that your body is releasing all the toxins and somehow it makes you want more! As I told you in my last post Laura came to share the experience with me, so here we are with our first green juice, as happy as we could be :)

2013-10-03 13.40.04

Although I normally follow a quite healthy diet (quite a lot of raw food, vegan, gluten and sugar-free based), it did have an impact in my body….  I was feeling very light and “high”, hehe (which kind of funny since I never take any drugs). I was missing some energy, but we also did a lot of things, so I guess it is normal…  (Next time I will be resting MUCH more and drinking more water!! hahaha)

The idea was to eat super healthy, exercise, stay away from the social media and re-connect with myself. What really happened is that we talked to many interesting people and we spent some hours talking, walking, cycling, shopping, teaching Spanish, working, resting, cooking, sight-seeing, drinking tea and green juices, having fun and enjoying our healthy food. As a result of all that I leave you my main thoughts:

  • Everything happens for a reason“. There are no mistakes, we are where we are supposed to be
  • After looking back to my life I realised how happy I am for having so many good memories  and lovely experiences… ♥
  • Patience, everything has its right moment
  • Follow your heart, your inner voice or however you wanna call it, it’s always right!
  • I am doing great, I am doing what I am supposed to be doing :)
  • Take action! Baby steps are fine too, but take them!
  • If your body is talking to you, listen! It might be important…
  • You already have all you need, most of the times is right in front of you but you can’t see it…
  • Take some time off, there is no need to be connected to everyone all the time, better to be connected to yourself!

This was just door to a new beginning… It’s time to fly and shine! I am already busy with my next projects, waiting for the right people to come to my life to help me develop them and grow together! In the meantime, I will get started with my baby steps, don’t miss any post, it’s going to be super interesting!

Thanks a lot Laura for such a MAGIC weekend! See you in November Soul Sister… ♥

Cheers!

Big hug and much love,

3, 2, 1… Ready for the Autumn DeToX! Do you want to join?!?!

Standard

Although I normally follow a quite healthy lifestyle, it’s always good to take some days to detox your body and be more conscious about what’s going on in your life… From my point of view cleansing should not just about the food we are eating but about what is eating us… Therefore I belive it is great to take some time to reconnect with myself, understand what it is that I need or want the most and get rid off what doesn’t serve me anymore. I don’t need to go far away to disconnect from the new technologies or take good care of me and focus, so for this first time I am staying at home! :)

Fortunately, today, my very good friend and soul sister Laura is coming to satay for 5 days to follow the detox and share the experience with me! It is always nice to have the support and have the chance to share what’s going on while eliminating toxins and getting new insights! :) I could not be happier that we are doing this together! Thanks a lot for coming Lau! :)

So what will happen?? Although I will still have a couple of jobs to do (they have nothing to do with my company) WE WILL BE ON HOLIDAYS!! Yesssssssssssss! We will be both off from the internet, mails, newsletters, Fb, whatsapp or whatsoever… You can still reach us by sms and regular phone calls though :P -Like in the old times, you know? hehe-

Regarding food, we will be following a gentle detox plan based on lemon-ginger water in the morning, juices, green smoothies, low-fat raw food and soups (everything Organic as much as possible). I promise we will not be hungry at any moment!

2013-09-14 16.41.59To complement it, we will take time for ourselves in nature: walking, cycling, running (if we still have the energy) or simply contemplating, reading or meditating. Let’s hope the weather will be nice! :) -Otherwise indoor yoga is always a great option!-

And to have fun? Catching up with friends, talking about girly stuff, visit all the second-hand stores and flea markets in town, go to nice cafés (to drink herbal tea, hehe) and chill a bit watching movies! When was it the last time you had time for so many things?

Do you want to join us? Just take some days off then or stay tuned for the next time. I’m preparing a winter detox; I will announce it in advance so that you can start getting mentally and physically ready for it!

Oucome, thoughts, learning experiences and pictures will come asap! On the meantime, enjoyyyyyyyy!

Big hug and much love,

Sara.es

  • Focus on my breathing and live more in the present moment (that’s a good one!)
  • Keep al my already good habits: lemon juice in the morning, meditating, green smoothies, eating 70% raw, at least 1600 minutes exercise a week, keep in touch with old friends and family quite often, be happy, make other people happy (love that one), put passion on everything I do (specially when working -and selling fries-), let things go, go with the flow, be open, stay positive (everything happens for a reason, right?), trust, believe in me… Hehe, seems that I am already doing a great job here… :P

Well, I think that’s more than enough, lets let some room for the unexpected and wish me luck! ;-)
